About Kathleen

I am a certified Special Education Teacher with 20 years experience working with children. I have worked as a professional nanny for 5 sets of twins, several with special needs including deaf/hard of hearing, preemies, Down syndrome and speech delays. I have homeschooled several families in addition to teaching at Montessori schools. I became a teacher because I was raised alongside my uncle who had Down Syndrome and was close in age to me. I learned to appreciate all he had to offer and loved spending time with him and his friends. I love kids. I love spending time with them, doing arts and crafts, cooking, going on outings and enjoying nature. I love conducting science experiments, reading, spending time at the library, learning and growing. I am calm, poised and a great listener. I believe in emotional regulation through self awareness and peaceful exploration of feelings. Kids have big feelings and I enjoy helping them learn to work with them.
