About Tela

Hello! My name is Tela, and I am 25. Born & raised in Detroit, MI before moving to HTX at 13, so I consider this amazing city my home as well! I currently reside in the NRG/TMC area. I love reading, watching documentaries, and thinking of ways to improve the child welfare system. I have 2 younger brothers, so I naturally inherited a “second mom” role. I also spent my teenage years babysitting my older cousins’ children on their nights out. Spending so much time around kids - witnessing their growth & development intrigued me. The progression of different personalities never fail to amaze me. It is why I decided to major in psychology and continue working with children. I’m currently a full-time clinical neurology RA but am happy to help some weekday evenings & weekends! I’ve tutored at an elementary school and volunteered at a pediatric therapy clinic along with occasional babysitting throughout my college years. I am professionally trained in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) techniques & Community Health Work. Also CPR certified! I would love to learn about your family & how I can help! Thank you!
