Spring has sprung, and with April showers comes… warmer weather! We know that entertaining kids inside can become repetitive, so now that Spring is here we thought we’d give you some kid-friendly activities to take advantage of the outdoors!
Here are four inexpensive and easy outdoor activities for kids that are perfect for springtime!
1. DIY Plastic Bottle Sprinkler
If the summer heat comes early, take advantage of this fun outdoor activity! All you need is a one-liter plastic bottle and a hose to keep the kids entertained for hours on end!
This next idea is super easy and can also be used as an educational experience! Take a walk through the backyard, local park, or neighborhood, and make a list of items for the kids to find like flowers, leaves, and rocks. Turn it into a game by giving your kids a set amount of time to find as many items as they can!
Drawing with sidewalk chalk is a great way to enjoy the outdoors while still doing something creative, inexpensive, and accessible! Teach kids how to draw different pictures, play games like Hangman, or even create a mural together!
Create an obstacle course using items you already have around your house or yard, such as cones, hula hoops, jump ropes, and balls. If there are multiple kids, challenge them to race each other (or you if you’re feeling up to it!) or you can time them to see how fast they can complete it! Keep in mind the safety tips listed so everyone stays safe and injury-free.
